Childhood Dreams... Shattered...

I always joke that I live in a land of butterflies and rainbows, and honestly I think that is the best way to live sometimes but I do face reality.

As a kid I thought when I grew up I would save lives, own a hundred dogs, have loads of kids and eat ice cream whenever I wanted. Well saving lives didn't go so well because frankly the people in the ems field are cocky and that's not me, I own one dog which is enough for me, I have two kids and don't for see more and well my teeth hurt just thinking of ice cream.

As a kid you have many dreams. Being a princess or a rescue hero, living with mommy and daddy till your a grown up and eating ice cream every day. We all know that is not what growing up is but we can all embrace it in children. My children know the real world as well as "their" world. Alora dreams of one day marrying Harry Potter after she attends Hogwarts of course. Robert now that he is older has dreams more grown up, like becoming a senator.

I don't dear tell Alora that Harry Potter is not real or that her brother just was not accepted and is a "muggle." However I do say things like "Alora, Harry Potter Is much older then you and he might be married by then." or "Alora you might be a muggle to and not go to Hogwarts but that's ok because we all love you anyway." I feel like saying this is better then crushing their dreams at 4 and gets them ready to be crushed at say like 8.

I'm not sure I remember when Robert stopped being so child like. It makes me sad really. The good thing is he still has dreams. Dreams some I know probably won't happen but by no means just like when he was 4 I would crush. He wants to be a senator and I fully support it. I do however worry myself about the college bill. But I do keep him in check about it saying things like "well just remember it is my dream too and I will support you threw all 10 years of school."

It is my biggest pet peeve when kids are just thrown to the dogs. I know someone who never told their kids no and let them believe in everything not real. Well the poor oldest is now bullied every day and at the age of 12 doesn't understand his legos are not real. Yes bulling is not right but it happens every day in middle school. Anyway I find myself thinking if they handled their kids a little better in life would that child just have had all of his dreams shattered on the 2nd day of school?

I love being happy and embracing my children's love of life and dreams but in the same sense I don't want to set them up for disappointment.

What are your thoughts on this?

Farm Rich Stuffed Pretzel Bites Review and Giveaway!

I thought last night, the last night of summer vacation, we would all cuddle up and watch our rented movie and eat some YUMMY FarmRich Stuffed Pretzel Bites!
They come in the frozen section and are filled with warm yummy cheddar cheese! I tend to shy away from buying frozen snacks because I feel like they just are not crunchy, salty, warm or tasty enough. I hate when you buy something frozen and cook it up and it still tastes mushy and under cooked.
Robert, Alora, The Mail Man and I all pulled up a seat and after the 10 mins of cooking time in my toaster oven we put in the movie and started munching.

WOW this is actually OK! I love when my pretzels are hard on the outside and soft on the inside THESE WERE! And not only that but filled with cheese! BONUS! I love dipping my pretzels in cheese but to already have the cheese! Yummy!

I have always bought farm fresh meat balls but have never tried anything else. I love their meatballs! I knew this was a product that would be good. I didn't know they would be wicked good! They have a whole array of nice frozen food like the meatballs, sandwich melts, cheese sticks and more!

Robert wants to write about what he likes.
"I love these because they taste so good. They are filled with lots of cheese but I ate one and it had cheese but not as much as the other one. I think that is because my mom squished it to see if they are ready. They were very hot so I had to wait a little while but once I ate them boy I ate them all! I liked the movie too so it was nice to have a good snack to eat too."

Alora says.
"They are very very yummy. The cheese is hot and the pretzel was squishy cheese. I like cheese."

Mail man.
"Yea it was good. I only ate a few though so listen to Robert."

The dog even ate a few. But shhh don't tell our vet.

Fall Is Here... Fall Is Here...

This is my second favorite time of year! My first being winter of course. This is the time of year were my pee smells like pumpkin because, well I have pumpkin juice, coffee, muffins, cake, pies and candy. Yes I eat them all. I am a huge pumpkin fan. There is many other awesome things going on in New England other then peeing pumpkins. We have apple picking, foliage watching (boring,) cider mills and can't forget Thanksgiving at Plimoth Plantation.
Some of my favorite things about New England in the fall is...
1. If I don't want to be cold well then I can go apple picking during the day in the sun when it is still 75. Or I can go an hour later if I want to snuggle in a sweat shirt because it is New England it will be 55 by then.
2. Almost anything I can get in pumpkin flavor.
3. No more annoying out of state people trying to attempt the drive to the cape.
4. School. Need I saw more on that.
5. Being stared at by out of staters because I am still wearing shorts and tanks while drinking an iced coffee in 60 degree weather.
6. Pumpkin coffee.
7. Halloween and pumpkins.
8. Only needing the ac on In the car half the time, usually in the middle of the day when it is 65.
9. Sam Adams fall beer flavors.
10. Did I mention pumpkin flavored everything, even Sam Adams beer?

I don't think there is a more better time other then winter, my favorite, of course. Do you have anything to add to why fall is so awesome?

So I Had To Call An Emergency Plumber

Emergency plumbers S**K. They coast an arm and a leg and never mind the cost on a holiday weekend! UGH. So when I called my Daddy in tears (who else would I call) explaining I opened my bathroom door and a rush of water flowed onto my feet I thought it was the end of my bank account.

My toilet was just gushing water. I mean it was like HOLY COW does my toilet have that much water gushing. I called the mail man he threw down is guitar (that is another post coming soon) and came running in to only step in water, kind of funny really.

So Daddy told me to call his guy (will not use real name) Herman. Now let me explain where Herman comes from. My Dad use to go to this bar up the street from our house called the Sand Trap. A very only men go there dirty bar lol. When my Dad got sick and he went into his coma one of the first things he worried about when he woke up was getting his football numbers in. Since then I have been holding my breath and going to the Sand Trap to put in his number. Every time I go there 20 men offer me a beer and Herman is usually the ONLY one to ask how Dad is doing.

I never knew he was a plumber. So my Dad called him last night and he was at a clam bake go figure. Anyway he promised to be out here first thing in the morning and just shut our water off. Boy was he not lying! 7:30 am knock knock. He figured it out in 10 mins and is out getting the supplies needed.

Now I will not say how much I am spending on this emergency plumber but I will say this. The cheapest plumber on a holiday weekend is $150 just to come knock on your door. Once again I am so blessed to have the smartest Daddy with the weirdest friends!

OH and this is where Louise "hides" when strangers come, she thinks you can't see her in the bed. But she never took her eyes off him.

I Got A Fancy Camera!

I have the most amazing Cannon Rebel camera ever! The pictures are clean crisp and very clear! I take all my "family portraits" with this camera. It was a VERY expensive camera which captured many many of my young mom journeys. My mistakes (like Roberts shaved head,) my holidays, trips to Boston she even captured the exact second Robert fell and broke his leg. The one problem with this camera. It is film. Yes I said film.
BUT I LOVE THIS CAMERA! I knew however I needed a new one with the future travel plans of Vegas and Disney. So just like the iPad/NOOK shopping trip (just play) I went with something in mind and walked out with something different. I am a cannon girl and I think after looking at the SLR's I would never have anything but a Cannon. Anyway I ended with a Cannon but not a SLR. I got the Cannon SX30 and IT IS AMAZING! These are the pics I took with just point and shoot. Nothing Fancy because well I just opened the box and Louise needed her birthday treats.

And this was all point and shoot!

I can not wait to get outside in the bright sunshine with my kids dressed down playing in the grass or on the beach!
Are you a certain kind of brand girl/guy?

We Are Going To DISNEY WORLD!

There has been a handful of times I have been to Disney World and I like to think I know how to travel there. With dinner reservations, different park hours for hotel guests, transportations, parades, lights and special seasonal happenings it does get over whelming and forget a lot. The last time I went I saved all my tax money and took my two kids and my mom. We celebrated all our birthday together as well as a little treat for taking care of the big guy since he was well enough for us to leave for a few days. The time before that I went on m honey moon with the mail man! I have experienced Disney as a child, single mom, married honey moon couple and whole family. The two things I know 110% is that I have never been for Christmas (always dreamed) and we NEED the dining plan.
Many times a year Disney offers the free dinning plan which is what I took advantage of. I also booked the lowest value resort being all star music. With that said I like these hotels because they are Disney park hotels, very clean, special advantages for being a guest as well as cheap! Averaging about $67 a night!

The dinning plan is one quick service meal,a snack and a sit down dinner every day. When my husband and I went on our honey moon we paid for the dinning plan at $710 I was a bit worried we made such a big purchase. Then at the end of the trip we saved all our receipts and added them up, $1200! dinned at Cinderella's castle, Mickey mouse character breakfast lunch at planet pizza and my all time, never go to Disney with out eating here place, the 50's Prime Time Cafe.
Now this time traveling with my dad in his electric chair we will need a little more help and when I talked to the man on the magical disney line (the hold music of some day my prince will come was so nice!) he assure me everything even the rides are handicap accessible.
My dream is coming true we are traveling there at Christmas time! I was filled with tears when I was told. How blessed am I. I love my dad and never left his side through out his coma. I take of my dad now. I love my dad not one other person has helped me with him. My children have watched this and I instilled in them no matter what happens you always be there for your family. They help me take daddy out places and even helped putting his new electrical chair together. My children deserve this vacation and seeing the love and excitement on their face is so exciting they know they are going but not when!
I heard there is so many extras around Disney Christmas time! Do you have any advice?
